SpaceVPX Reconfigurable Processing System (RPS-PS)

Frontgrade’s RPS-PS is a 3U SpaceVPX reconfigurable processing system integrating the RPM-PS and its associated Input/Output XMC+ Mezzanine (IOM-PS) daughter card along with our 125W (nominal) SpaceVPX Power Supply Module (SPSM-PS).

SpaceVPX Reconfigurable Processing System (RPS-PS)

Targeted to missions demanding a compact, high-performance, data processing instrument that is easily integrated into the mission platform, the Reconfigurable Processing System (RPS-PS) stands as a compelling solution. By leveraging Frontgrade’s Versal VC1902 based 3U SpaceVPX Reconfigurable Processing Module (RPM-PS) combined with I/O expansion through the XMC+ I/O Mezzanine (IOM-PS) card and 125W power supply, the RPS provides a powerful, low SWaP, fully integrated subsystem to address the most challenging mission data processing needs.

In its standard configuration, the RPS-PS boasts the following attributes:

Processing / Data Rates / Connectivity – Based on RPM-PS Instantiation

  • Processor: Versal® VC1902 System-on-Chip (SoC) with dual A72 ARM™ cores (up to 1.7 GHz) and dual Cortex-R5® cores (up to 750 MHz)
  • Volatile Memory: 16 GB DDR4 memory
  • Non-Volatile Boot Memory: 8 Gbits QSPI MRAM
  • Non-Volatile Storage: 1Tb maximum of raw data storage in SLC mode

When configured with the RPM-PS mezzanine card:

  • One 100Base-TX and four 1000Base-T ports
  • Four SpaceWire ports of up to 200 Mbps per port
  • Redundant RS422 1PPS inputs
  • One RS422 UART
  • Discrete IOs: 3 LVDS inputs, 1 LVDS pulse output,1 LVTTL/LVCMOS input, and 4 LVTTL/LVCMOS outputs

Mass / Volume / Thermal

  • Mass: less than 10 kg (estimated)
  • Dimensions: 13.75” (L) x 8.25” (W) x 4.2” (H)
  • Maximum box operating temperature mounted on a regulated thermal interface: 52°C
  • Maximum power budget: 300W (using two System Power Supply Modules (SPSMs)
  • 100V and 28V Input Voltage Options provided through DB15 connection on SPSMs
  • Power budget allocated according to selection of plug-in modules, e.g. RPMs, SEIMs, SRFMs, etc.

OPERATIONAL LIFE / RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE

  • System reliability over 0.87
  • System SEU rate: No more than one per 10 months for typical LEO Missions
  • TID of 25 krads (Si) or 100 krads (Si) optional assuming 100 mils of shielding with 6061-T6 Aluminum
